Hi there

I have some really good looking celeriac (Monarch - I think) which have about 4 leaves and are looking good - is it time to move them outside now?  I have never grown this veggie before but absolutely love it despite it being called the Ugly one.  Also do they go into the brassica bed in crop rotation??

Thanks

Hi Jitterbug I've planted mine out (at the weekend) here in Northumberland - so I'm glad you started this thread. I've never grown them before - but like you I love Celeriac - so I'm hoping for the best!

my first time too, i sowed mine yonks ago and pricked them out about three weeks ago but they are still really small, two or three leaves but only about an inch high. healthy in appearance though. does this soudn right?

I won't be planting mine out til next week at the earliest. We're forcast 3oC for Friday night. My books (pre-global warming) say plant out end of May, beginning of June. It's a lot easier than celery. my celery was a complete failure 2 years ago. My celeriac last year was also terrible, but the amount of effort I had to put in to get nothing was a lot less. Result! :D

manicscousers

we put it in the pea bed last year, they like quite a rich soil, plus moisture..we got some whoppers last year ;D
