Is this good for attracting beneficial insects and is that advantage offset by feline attention? Also, is it true that the leaves can be smoked? :)

Hi Zoglet.  Bees love catnip and so do cats!  I have no idea whether you can somoke the leaves I'm afraid.  Oh and I have some spare seed if you want to PM me.

My cats are eally not bothered by catnip or cat grass - they prefer my chive or spring onion seedlings! GRRR. Have learnt the hard way, and no longer keep my seedlings anywhere the cats might go, which means, sadly, the only window sill space I have is my kitchen. Boo hoo!

Also, can anyone tell me why the stray cats on my plot always poo on my carrot seedlings? Wherever I put them, makes no difference!

My friends cat did this last year! she's made a raised bed, netted them and put in sticks to poke little bottoms!

Lol. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has had this problem! May have to try the netting thing! Bless the little buggers. This morning, when I got to the plot, one of my strays was happily rolling all over my spinach seedlings! GRRR!
