has anyone grown these?,I've got four little chunky seedlings, seed from Suffolk herbs who say they are dwarf tomatoes.

I've googled but nothing comes up for these toms.

going by the name i assume they are early toms,

my lottie neighbour says they are an old variety,

any advise would be appreciated, thank you / shades x

Hi Shades, I have grown these once or twice. They are  dwarf plants, they are determinate so don't prune them, flavour is very good, but I would not say very productive compared to others. Medium  sized round tom, the leaf will be different, it is a potato leaf variety, quite an old  tomato, you can save the seeds, and it is very early, came at the same time as my Tumbler last year, which is classified as 55 days after transplanting to it's final spot on the US scale, I am sorry I don't know of a UK one, I would expect we are a couple of weeks after, as most of my toms fruit later than they did in North America when we lived there.

Hope this helps XX Jeannine

I can't explain that as they are supposed to. I will see if I can find some info on the net, maybe one of us is growing the wrong seed XX Jeannine

Hi Shades.  Daves Garden describes them as potato leaf and if you go to eseeds.com they are described as having a distinctive potato shaped leaf

Suffolk herbs replied to my e-mail, saying First in the Field toms get potato leaves after the plant has several pairs of leaves.

my plants have several pairs of leaves unfortunately none of them are potato!

Jeannine, you've grown them, do I have to wait a bit longer and be more patient?/ shades x

No, I think you have the wrong ones lovey,it happens sadly, all you can do is hope you have something good. I would ask for a refund though if they have sent you the wrong thing.

I don't understand  what they say about the leaves are potato after several leaves???  If this is the case I have never noticed, I can recognise potato leaves as soon as the true leaves come through.Maybe this one is different .Weird.

I could well be wrong, they are the experts so I will keep an open mind...Really weird.

I thought so to (weird that is!)

apparently Suffolk herbs have checked with there lab,the seed is good, no one else has complained, so there is no problem, so says Sue Graves of Suffolk herbs >:(/shades x
