I was wondering what the suitation is about getting insurance for sheds etc on allotments. Last night there was a major spate of thiefs from the allotment site that I have a plot on (Located in a small town in North-Oxfordshire). There was at least 10 sheds broken into with thefts of anything from lawn-mowers to hand tools. One woman told me this evening that they even took slug-pellets when they cleared her shed.

I did not have anything taken as I do not have a shed. I cleared an old shed that was falling down a month or so back, but have had no time to replace it yet. At the moment I bring all my tools up and down in my car when I am going to the allotment.

I will be getting a shed next month and I was wondering if there is any insurance scheme for gardens/sheds that are not attached to youe house? Can one add such as shed to standard house insurance?
