Oh has ours well under way, I tore some ligaments in my back a couple of weeks ago....
:-[

HappyCatz

Wish mine looked like that!

Blue Bird

Mine does look similar but the big pieces has dried like concrete - how can I break it down to a fine tilth
will I have to rotovate it?

Ours is coming along nicely also. I love this time of year, when you start to see everything coming to life again, and all the hard work digging and cultivating, turning my plots into a maze of freshly turned earth, and all my hardier crops in the ground, and growing stronger by the day! I love it! (All except the man a couple of plots over, who thinks lesbians are evil, and should be shot - or alternatively, what we need is a "real man" to show us the error of our ways! He even offered to be that man! lol)

I think I have greenhouse envy!!! ;)

Oh and the digging looks good too!
Smile at your enemies.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.

You only need a tilth in the precise spot where you put a seed. Break the lumps down just there with a kitchen fork if you have to. My fiorst year I planted among all sorts of lumps, and most things came up anyway. Keep adding organic matter and the soil structure soon gets better.

Looks lovely Tim - wish mine looked like that.....beginning to feel very inadequate walking round our site as every other plot looks like yours :(.....even more so after getting a "please bring your plot up to standard" letter from the council asking if I want to keep it :-[

knbsallotment, is he one of those awful pink round sweaty men who think he is so cool,  go tell him to eat a manure brick what a creep, XX Jeannine

Jeannine - I think you know him!! He's round, sweaty, and very bald! Wears a very hypocritical "Jesus loves us all" shirt - apparently, he interprets that as "Jesus loves us all as long as we are arrogant, annoying, theiving, and creepy, and as long as we like to intimidate women and kill animals for fun, and as long as we are not short, fat, gay, unmariied, not english and all agree wiht everything creepy men say!" lol. Told me his fantasy was to see a young woman have his baby! YUK YUK YUK!  Don't you hate that sort?

I say live and let live, as long as you are not harming others!

knsballotment...I have a formula for grading men by colour, On day I will publish it.

Pink they are  the  very worst for me,mostly overweight a bit always sweaty, thin on top. feels he is wonderful, they always have wet lips and the tongue comes out of the corner when he is a talking, sprays when talking and stands too close, this a Pink man

I will tell you others one day..

It is sad that he is so ignorant that he cannot see beyond some ones sexuality and look at what the person ticks on ,the persond heart,I have  gay son and at first mean people bothered me but not anymore,my son told me when they crawl out from under a stone they are so blinded from the light that they only see shades of dark.

Tell him to push off XX Jeannine

Better yet, direct him to the nearest branch of  'Lives-R-Us'.

I love your sons philosophy Jeannine. I know just what he means.
Please share your other colour gradings with us - you've piqued my curiosity. I want to know what the others are! lol.

BB - open to correction here, but I would say NO to the cultivator. I would go with the bit-by-bit advice, but I would use something bigger than a kitchen fork.

Hopefully the next rain may soften the lumps.

Amazin - no way - I paid you a fair price for them??

Dad - excuses, excuses!!

I find it SO much easier since I divided it into plots.

Jeannine

Hi KNB...BROWN MEN...warm, gentlemen, kind, wise, calm and loving ,realiable. soft spoken, often bearded, but with a natural soft beard not a harsh overly trimmed  one.

Sparkly

I wish my plot looked like that!!! boo hoo hoo  :-[ I had a tonsilectomy last thursday and we were away for a friend's wedding the week before. That means I haven't been down for about 2 weeks now. I am getting bad withdrawal symptoms and am worried that it will be like a weed-mine by the time I get back! Hopefully I shall be well enough to go down over next week and finish the digging. I had to plant my first set of broad beans into big pots in the garden yesterday because they were getting too big and needed putting out. At least I have over 2 weeks left before I have to go back to work so can hopefully get loads done over the easter holidays!

newbies

I have a man next door to my plot, whose main occupation seems to be telling me that:
I need more on my shovel
need to get my plants in now
my shed needs painting
not done much recently have you?

etc etc.
What an annoying berk!

tim

Sparkly - newbies - we will overcome??
