I sowed a couple of rows of carrots 2 weeks ago(eager to get going on my new plot) and now with this cold blast what do you think their chances will be? :)

They have one of two chances which are either grow or don't grow! ;D  Seriously though they may be all right.  I found this on a website.

Plant carrots as soon as the soil can be worked, two to three weeks before the last frost. Carrot seeds will germinate when temperatures are as low as 40°F (4°C), but temperatures of 50°-85°F (10°-29°C) are preferable.

I hope they survive.  It can turn you into a nervous wreck wondering if the seedlings will  make it!

It's not just a cold snap that does it - the soil takes longer to change than that.

Use a thermometer.

..Or lower your breeches and sit upon the soil, if its comfy then sow away, as long as you havent been arrested of course.

Best laid plans and all that

:o  Or you could warm the soil up with a polytunnel cloche thingy
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

Through experience, I now wait until April before sowing carrots, any earlier and they seem to be hit and miss (biased towards the miss). Excepting last summer's drought, we have never needed to buy carrots for several years ...
The impossible is just a journey away ...

I sowed some in a coldframe and they were up last weekend but haven't checked them recently,.... slugs will have had them if the cold hasn't!
