And finally, this is the last one.  This shrub is probably now 6-7ft tall and has a very rounded shape.  The flowers are white, but I can't remember when they appear.

Strawberry tree.....arancus I think it is called

isbister

yes it could well be a Strawberry tree - arbutus unedo - flowers and fruits at the same time, about now

Mrs Ava

Mum has had one in her garden for years and hers is exactly like that. ;D

I've had a look at some photo's on the web, and the one in the garden has never had any of those red fruit on it.
From looking through my book last night I was wondering whether it might be a Pieris, going more on the flowers than anything else.

ACE

Look hard at the photo, there is a fruit just starting.

Mrs Ava

Mums only occassionally gets fruit.  I am certain that is what it is.  ;D

OK. I must admit on reading up, the flowering time of the Aruncus fits in better than for a Pieris. I'm pretty sure it doesn't flower in the Spring.  I shall keep an eye on it and see what develops.
