Have purchase two varieties of outdoor cucumber - marketmore and burpless. Do I pinch bits out, train them up a cane or just let them ramble.  My books have conflicting advice.  Any recommendations appreciated. :)

Depends how much space you have and what they're growing next to.  I let mine ramble last year and they smothered half my leeks so this year I'm training them.

I didn't pinch bits out but I wouldn't know if that was the right or wrong thing to do.  I had about 10-12 from each of my two plants.
My allotment blog Plot326.  In it's infancy at the mo but in time it'll grow.

I always grow market more cukes, year 1 on the ground and year 2 up a trellis, much preferred growing them up!! I don’t think there’s any need to pinch out

we grow burpless and didn't pinch out at all, grew them up wires got loads for us, family and friends, 'planted' a 2 litre bottle next to them upside down with the bottom cut off to water in, that made a difference  ;D

I just wanted ask how did the sweetcorn and spag veg do as I was thinking about doing this with my sweetcorn and either my butternut squash, cucumbers or courgettes but didn't know which is the best one to grow with the sweetcorn.

sorry to hack into this thread just wondered how well they did.
