Pineapple any tips

My lovely husband brought me a pineapple plant for Valentines Day, it has a small fruit in the middle growing (I hope) but no instructions for keeping it. Any tips please if anyone else has had one.

My pineapple plant, I largely ignore it. Water it very occasionally, and it seems to be doing okay.. It's indoors and gets fairly bright sunlight, but not direct sun. Bob Flowerdew's written some good stuff on pineapple production.

(Course, I did it the DIY way.. ;)

Do they grow is this country at all, I've only ever seen them abroad and they're huge!
