Just noticed a shop 'troolyjoolie' they are selling 100 onion sents currently at .49pence and they are also selling birds lavender pekin hatching eggs, silkies, rhode island reds, exchequer leghorn, gold brahman etc.....

Oh they do a good var of hatching eggs I was tempted with the silkies but no room for any more pity.

I have noticed a lot of members giving information regarding cheap this or thats on ebay, yes the prices are good, but it is obvious to me that they make money on the postage charges, which when you weigh it up, is well over the top and does create profit for the sellers. ::)

thats sometimes a risk with ebay shops but you can also ask if you can collect which cuts to cost

Some do overcharge for postage, but a lot don't. I buy a lot of ancient coins on eBay, and most sellers barely charge enough to cover their reasonable costs.

Hi, re postage charges on e bay. It has got a bit silly over the last year and many sellers are grossly overcharging on postage claiming it is packing, which is often recycled   boxes etc. I am all for re-cycling and I use it wherever I can. I have got into the habit of e mailing a seller and asking what percentage of the cost is postage,or what the weight of the article is.Occasionally I don't get a reply but I mostly do. I buy quite a lot of 6 1/2 inch Rosebud  Thumbsucker dolls and pretty much know what the postage will be, so if it is high I question it beforehand, often I have had an e mail back saying it is a mistake and quoting me a lower price.

With seeds I find very often sellers only charge you for one packet for postage and multiples come along with them. This is very typical of the US sellers that ship to the UK.

Sellers do cover the listing fee and finial value fee Ebay charge them then there is paypal fee if buyer uses paypal. So it can mount up.

But yes some do over change for postage and handling to cover what they might not make on the sale.

I made up boxes from strong cardboard to fit what I was sending recycling yes, but have received plants in jiffy bags and even plastic tesco bags wrapped up in bin liners. Plants squashed.

If buying eggs special delivery is best its hand sorted and does not go through the machines in the post office.

There are good sellers out there who are fair just read the feedbacks. I have had great bargins on their and if you can collect even better I have met some lovely people.
