With the latest outbreak of bird flu i just wondered if everybody is still going to use pelleted poultry manure or if not what as a replacement?

Its been stated that cooking poultry would kill the bird flu virus, if a bird had been infected.

And AFAIK pelleted poultry manure is sterilised eg check out the safety info sheet here.

So I personally I would still be happy to use it (though I just use the fresh stuff for our 4 back garden chooks).

we'll be using it, always wear gloves when handling stuff anyway  ;D

Got 2 tubs left from last year. So I am ok for now. Just as well I guess.

The problem has only just happened so any pellets made before would be fine and as City Chick states it is sterilized any way

But take precautions when handling any thing like blood bone and manure just to be safe

I bet there will be loads of chickens going cheap in the supermarkets over the next few weeks!!
