Hi All

I'm sure this topic has been covered in the past, but I couldn't find it when I did a search so thought I'd ask again.
I'm planning a strawberry bed for this year and wondered which varieties people would recommend, I'm more interested in taste rather than size of fruit.

Thanks

I have grown Cambridge Favorite for many years and while it is not the best flavour it is certainly better than the watery rubbish from the supermarket.  It is very reliable and has earned it's place in my garden.  This year I have gone mad and brought some Red Gauntlet, Honeye and Maxim just for a change + the 23 plants I found in the undergrowth on the new lottie, I am going to have a glut and have started saving jam jars already :-)

The fave among the strawbs I have is a Ken Muir variety called Chelsea Pensioner. Tastes gorgeous, especially when the sun's got to work on that strawbie scent.

Gariguette ; superb long fruit with a really sweet and old fashioned taste...heaven!

I'm trying Maxim this year after several recommendations, see how they do! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

The  modern varieties are good on size but for flavour I think the best is Royal Sovreign
