No1 Daughter scoops all the jelly out of my Marmalade & leaves the bits!

So - special batch for her this year. Presumably, if I do as for normal , but only halve the fruit & just take it out at the end....?? Don't want any jelly bag faffle.

Hi Tim I am with your daughter on this one - I hate the peel so strain mine off and just have the jelly.

I use the tins of marmalade fruit from Asda they have a couple of different ones ie. orange or lemon both are really good.

I used your pressure cooker recipe this year tim, turned out very well :D

I'd pressure cook the oranges in halves, then scoop out the middles as normal, just discard the peel. Then I would put the pith, pips etc. back in the pressure cooker, bring back to the boil and stir around until I got a gloopy mess, then rub them through a seive. Sorry, it must be in the Genes, I couldn't bear not to :-[

Do you think you might need slightly less sugar if you don't have the peel in?

Probably done a silly - using the usual amount of sugar.

But now another question - how to use the peel? Can't bring myself to bin it.

Composting is different?
Or you could put all those half-oranges out on the plot, and collect slugs under them, then compost. Your neighbours will think you have a crop of magic mushrooms :o

How about candying? Too bitter?

Much annoyed that the oranges come in 1.5kg nets. Have to buy almost twice what I need.

But will take the advice about grating the zest & juicing ready for later Nigella ice cream.

Lucky I have patience & time.

After an hour of the blind leading the blind, we have a modest offering. I'm NOT going to attempt an improvement!

Got it!!

The flesh of one orange - small dice - in Bubble & Squeak is great. Wife's idea.
