To late for toms?

I've got some Russian black tomato seeds arriving on Tuesday ... would people agree that it's too late in the season for me to plant them?  I'd probably germinating in the airing cupboard, bringing on in a greenhouse and them planting them outdoors (at least that was the plan 4 weeks ago).  Thanks in advance wise ones, Paul

You should be ok, though may have a problem later in the year with unripe fruits though towards the end of September/October, if possible, to bring the plants back into the greenhouse to prolong the season.

Because plants grown outside are limited to four trusses I think you still have plenty of time - even if you get three trusses how can that be bad?!  :D.

In fact, I find that the later sown plants grow stockier than the early ones which, even in the greenhouse, can be struggling for sufficiently high light levels.  I've just sown a few more Sun Belle (my favourite bite sized tomato) because the germination in the earlier batch was poor.

I'm in the (alledgedly) warm South East and I never plant my toms out before the 2nd week in June - so I'd advise you to go for it!

No problem with sowing now-Black Russian ripens outside here on the Lincs/Cambs border,but is better in the greehouse.
