Metcheck gives sunrise and sunset times ... I have noticed that today the sunset time is later than yesterday, indicating that the nights are drawing out again. Before I hear it mentioned that the solstice in not until the 20th or 21st or 22nd (never sure exactly when), sunset and sunrise times are not exactly in phase with each other, ie the cusp of sunset variations is earlier by several days than for sunrise. So although it is still getting darker in the mornings (for about a week), there are now a few seconds extra daylight in the evening ... ! Not that there is any noticeable difference until about the middle of January, but it keeps me going, anyway  :D

That's definitely a thought to cheer me on this cold winter's night, almost downhill to summer now and long evenings sitting on the patio with a glass - won't be long.... :)

Pleased about that. Its a pain in the backside rounding my hens up on an evening  in the dark.

Even though daybreak forgot to happen this morning (or got entirely lost in the fog), we are now officially past the solstice and back on the way to spring!  ;D

Here's to the old gods and wardens of the Festival of Sun Return!

Not only that but I've spotted the blue tits roosting in the nest box so it's a double  :D from me!

Edit:  Hmmmm, I see the A4A clock is still wrong  :-\

That was around 1630 it got proper dark here in Oxfordshire tonight, but when the light did drop off it went very quickly!

Summers nearly here and then it wont be long till Christmas!!
