asparagus Vs tree location

Does asparagus mind being planted near trees?

Havingn realised I need additional space for compost bins & manure piles I've had to shift my plans around a bit.

I'm plotting out an area for a permanent bed for spring & autumn asparagus (shown as X) on the same bed as a plum tree (shown as t). Straight/anged lines are the bed perimeter.

the assumption is that the tree is a mid sized plum, the asparagus is ferny and thick anyway so a few leaves won't hurt.

Any advice?

Actually, you might be alright with that - I grow gladioli in a similar formation near a plum, both did ok last year in a really hot summer with little irrigation.
I assume the plum isn't very big yet - you can train the branches all one way if you want, tie the young branches and bend them, pegging the ropes, so they bend, leave them in that position all summer and the branches will fix there.
