Funny I was only joking last week that I bet he wishes he would be caught before Christmas so he could be sure of a nice warm bed and a loverly Xmas meal inside. Hope he chokes on a bone why should us tax payers have to pay for the likes of Him.Rot in hell you S##T

well....they think they've got him. has everyone been to his myspace? my bf found it earlier on. he's down as "the bishop".

but they only reason they've arrested him is because of the interview that was in the paper yesterday. i think he sort of shot himself in the foot. i mean they've searched his house and his car already and found nothing. but because of the interview, i think they felt they had to.

but yea, even if it isn't this guy, i hope they find him soon.

Richard. No charge yet, if it isn't him I am sure we all hope the police catch the murderer very soon. The poor families of those girls must be going through a living hell, terrible at any time but seems so much worse at this time of the year. It will also be a relief for every female in that area. OK we no longer hang people but I think life should mean life.

i'm particularly disgusted by some people with the attitude that don't think much of it as it's "just prostitutes". i've had a correct a couple of people and have gotten really worked up about it. but it seems that even in the 21st century, prostitutes are frowned upon.

kt.

No problems with people who persue prostitution as a profession. Should be legalised I believe.

If nothing else the taxes gained would probably outweigh those of the motorist. And if governed by legislation may possibly ease the burden on the NHS. ::)

IF this is the man who did it, I'm very very very pleased and Well Done the Police.

If it's not, I hope that over-zealous police aren't trying to fit-up a man to fit the crime. There's a lot of pressure on them to find the culprit(s) quickly.

Wahaj....was always the way.....prostitutes 'frowned' on, while.. the men whose desires/demands furnish the raison d'etre for prostitutes' existence? Er... well..... have you asked the people who've made their comments what their solution is to eliminate demand?

Make interesting reading - would love to know ;D

all this seems just too convenient.   :-[

I don't think any of of us women who live in Ipswich will
ever feel safe again, even if they do find the culprit.
The dog's walk have been drastically cut down....I only
take him out if I have someone to go with me and
I hav'nt set a foot in the allotment either, for fear I
would be the only one down there :(

My worry is that this guy rather fits the profile of the sort of person the police like fitting up these days. I just hope they've got the right one, or sort it out if they haven't, as otherwise not only will there be a miscarriage of justice, the killer will still be out there to do it again.

I used to work in a red light area, and got talking to some of the girls; much to my relief they treated me as a neighbour not a potential client. They'd all had a hell of a life, a couple had been forced into it, and the others felt they had to for financial reasons. I won't condemn them.

Leonnie

did I hear the news right earlier today, they've arrested a second person?

wahaj

i'm sorry you're in that situation agapanthus. it must be a constant worry.

and alishka i totally agree, if it wasn't for the men that wanted the business, then prostitution wouldn't be there in the first place.

but as it is, i do also think it should be made legal like it has been in so many countries. and i think the same with drugs. the only reason these two areas in society are so out of control is because of the fact that we've banned them and not made any real attempt to understand the fact that it will still happen. but if they make it legal, it's all out in the open, no one has to be ashamed to do it, there will be more support for people, people are more likely to ask for, or accept help. and also it'll be much more easier to control the situation.

agapanthus

Yes Leonnie.....but still a big worry.

When I read about this man's arrest, I felt that they had just got him in for questioning after the Sunday Mirror story.  For some reason, I can't explain why, I don't think he is the murderer.  I felt that the police had to do something as there was a lot of pressure from the Press and general public that no arrests had been made.  I haven't found this man's website but when searching for it, I came across plenty of sites for a Bishop Tom Stephens.  I concluded that maybe he had done a Google search of his name and having found the Bishop, decided to call himself that.

I wasn't surprised when I heard another arrest had taken place this morning.  Again this seems to be another punter.  Dare I suggest that the Police are just clutching at straws?    :-\  I do hope they find the culprit soon whoever he or she is.

MrsKP

far too much publicity surrounding the first arrest for my liking.  perhaps it was to flush out the real murderer.

i'm all for media blackouts after the initial plea for help.

at the end of the day this could happen in any town anywhere to anyone !

so everyone keep their wits about them.

if they're just arresting people on suspicion, then they shouldn't be allowed to publish their names. Mud sticks.

muddy boots

An extremely emotive issue and the police are not publishing or denying names.  The first suspect rather shot himself in the foot by speaking to the tabloids.

However, as in all similar cases, we do need to remember that an arrest on suspicion is just that.  Unless anyone is actually charged, the case is still wide open and anyone else suspicious will be arrested until such time as the evidence is sufficient to bring a case for prosecution.

My heart goes out to the families, some of whom didn't realise the profession of their daughter, and have to come to terms with understanding both that and their deaths.

Also, due to the time of year, the grieving process is elongated.  It's such a time for families and a constant extra reminder.
