Hey!

I'm making a terrarium for my window and am after some nice coloured sands.

now i don't live anywhere near a beach.....if anyone does.....can anyone send me like a small amout of sand? i can cover the postage if that helps. it doesn't have to be anything wacky. just anything that's white....or grey....or a dark brown/black.....or maybe even light brown. i'm just looking to add some interest to it.

thanks :)

Tropical fish shops and craft centres stock coloured sand. Got to be cheaper than paying postage!

Anyone on the Isle of Wight might help.

It is not safe this time of year. Anyway most of that stuff is made in China!

Ace. Are you kidding? On our two holidays to I.O.W. Grandson filled several "animals" with coloured sand. Guy in the shop told us it was collected each morning from the cliffs. Was he telling porkie pies?

On our local beach taking sand is forbidden (bye law I think). Probablely the same on many others. Think they have a special license on IOW.

There would be no cliffs left if they used it in all the ornaments. I have never seen anybody collecting it in the mornings. Also the range of colours they sell do not match those on the beach.

A few years ago a poor little nipper got buried digging in the cliffs, I think since then it is not allowed.

Now I'm curious. Never been to the IOW, so what's this about coloured sand? What colours?

oooh totally forgot about starting this thread lol.

thanks for all the advice peeps. but yea i've got some coloured gravels now....and some play sand....which isn't really proper sand....but it's very white looking....so that'll add interest in one corner. and i'll be going down to pets at home to buy some more interesting fine gravels and sands.
