. to get a move on. I've no excuse to sit here any longer. I've finished my cup of tea and eaten my biscuits. Walked the dog. Fed the rodent. Set Toot away with some colouring. I've got to start to sand down the banisters, all those thingy posts and the big dobber posts at the ends. OMG I've realised there's are four of the big ones. The banister goes all the way round to the bathroom upstairs. (Deep sigh.) Me and my big mouth. Oh well here goes...

ooohh - stay where you are - that sounds horrid! surely you need another cup of tea before tackling something like that ......  ;)

I've started!  I've put on some music. First I put on Elvis ballads. It made me a bit sad cos a member of my family is very poorly and she loves Elvis...it got the sandpaper moving rather vigorously whilst I thought about that. Then I put Neil Diamond on and have had a good sing along at the top of my voice heehee. Toot attempted to help but then preferred to get her train set out. When I put Neil Diamond on she said "I'll get my guitar" very matter of factly lol. I'm half way up the first banister. The hand rail has dark varnish on it. The cat has torn it to shreds and cut quite deep marks into the wood...pesky cat. The rest is white gloss... battered and bumped.Have stopped to get Toot some lunch and because I need a chair to reach one side of the stairs. It kind've disappears into the ceiling from one side.  And there are seven and a half big posts not four! Aaaaargh!

Can kiss my nails which I was growing for Christmas goodbye  :D

Right back to Neil.   "Crackling Rose you're a (don't know the words sounds like store board ???) woman, but you make me sing like a Guiiieetar humming so hang on to me girl our song keeps running oooooon!"

Does anyone else have favourite music to help get laborious tasks done?

Ricky Martin & Eglasias junior for decorating duty, nothing like a bit of Latino rythmn to get the rubbish jobs to pass quickly.
is it in the sale?

Heldi

Don't you end up dancing instead of decorating?  ;D

froglets

The trick is to combine the two into a mutually positive set of movements!

The Royal family did it with Mambo number 9.

Got to the top... way hey! Got a little stretch to do then it disappears into the wall...hence the half big post. Then it's around and up a few more stairs again and then along to the bathroom. Might leave that bit for tomorrow. Never never to be done again whilst I live in this house lol. Stopped now for a cup of coffee after collecting my sproggles from nursery and school.  Also stopped for a twirl around the room to Mr Bojangles  ::)  :D. Need to change the cd methinks. I like The Eurythmics greatest hits to do decorating stuff to.  Especially "Thorn in My Side." Like to belt that out into a paint brush hahahaha!

Hi Lordy,how ya doin?

supersprout

oo yes, Eurythmics for decorating, Queen for hoovering and dusting!
well done Hels, not far to go now :P :D

H. When Toots is in the land of Nod sit yourself down with a nice glass/bottle, feet up. You certainly deserve it!!

the trick is to get the husband to do it :-)

Heldi

My OH does property maintenance for living...so you can imagine if I want anything done I'm way at the back of the queue  >:(  :D  He came in last night and said "Excellent job, excellent job!" In an accent that sounded like Stephen Fry's Dumbledore! I felt like shoving the broom I was holding somewhere upon his person lol!

So after I've had my cuppa I'm on to the next part of the stairs. Then it's the homeward stretch. Don't know what my musical accompaniment will be yet. Something stirring I think as I have a "can't be bothered" attitude at the moment...I want it done though.

Discovered a ouiple of Christmases ago that I paint a lovely straight line reound the edges ( ceilings & skirting boards) after a cup or two of mulled wine.  Even better when done up a ladder.

It's becoem a staple now when decorating  ;D

My aunt decided to put cork tiles on the floor of her toilet a few years back, sticking them down with Evostick (is that still around these days?) ::)

She only realised she was out of her head from inhaling all the glue fumes when she started singing along to Elvis songs on the radio, then suddenly started crying "Elvis, I love you.....!"

WARNING    do not use glue in small confined areas like toilets.........!!!
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴
