freezing mouse

can anyone tell me why my mouse freezes when i boot up my PC,it doesn't always happen but when it does i cant move it to shut down and reboot so i just have to switch it off and start again.When i reboot it seems to be OK and is no problem until i switch off and reboot on the next occasion.all suggestions most grateful
