I have a HP Deskjet printer with new ink installed, I have cleaned the heads, aligned the thingamabob and printed a test page that appears OK.

When I press the print button it goes through all the usual actions and the paper comes out blank. ::) I looked through the trouble shoot and I came out blank. ::) :P

Anyone have a simple rectifyable answer please. ;) ;D

are you printing a printable document?
is the font colour set to automatic (black) or white?

Have you taken the tape off the new print cartridges?

Not that he will be able to read this due to ignoring me ::)

Thanks for the rapid response supersprout ;) good question, not sure what you mean about "Printable document" I just tried to print a saved document from "Word" that should print.

I did think about the colour being set to white as I have been caught out on that B4 so I checked and it was set to "Automatic Black" but I did change it to Blue just in case my black ink was naff. :)

what does 'print preview' show you?

supersprout

ps you've probably done all of these but printer misery loves company eh  :-\ :)

I must have removed the tape, as I said I’d printed a test page that appears OK, but thanks for the suggestion. ;D

[size=07pt]RC I have removed the ignore button as you appear to have removed the offending link :D and would prefer to see your boast of “A4A’s most deleted” text removed also, although we can’t have everything, can we?

Exactly that, a preview of that document, it is strange that it prints a test page, meaning ink is getting through but won't print a document. ???

What you do with your ignore button is entirely up to you roy...........but you should refrain from telling others what to do ::) ::)....try a chill pill and if that don't work try a
small malt ;D ;D........As regards your problem....I too have an all in one HP.....2179
series....if its not used in a while it tends to go haywire........also make sure your drivers are up to date.......... I have a feeling it is human error and not machine...have you done
an alignment check.........?.........if you still have no joy.........go to the HP site...go through the help pages it will put you back on track  ;) best of luck

If the above doesn't work Roy - uninstall the printer software. Reinstall & download the latest drivers.
Good luck/keep us informed.

It's not a problem with the printer, Roy.  If it was, it wouldn't have printed out your tester page (if you see what I mean) and if your print preview is coming up fine then your print software is obviously generating an accurate output.   ??? Let me scratch the bumps on my head for a little bit and get back to you with hopefully something more helpful!

I have a epson,
Try clicking on file, print, preferences, utility, headcleaning, start then print nozzel check patteren. this way I check to see if a ink is faulty.
or.
click on
start, control panel, printers+faxes, click on printer ( make sure your printer is ticked) opens printer log and deleat all in log. then try again to print.
Is ink levels  showing in cartliges on screen when printing?

I maybe should have said what the printer is, it is HP DeskJet 690C very old now  but I have had it from new and it has been a good work horse, I have another printer inline that is an Epson Stylus Photo 870 that, touch wood is working fine.

Telboy, I would love to be able to do what you have suggested but it is way above my head.

I agree with what you have said YP but please let me know when you have scratched your head.

Teresa, I have run an alignment, head cleaning check and a test page that have all worked ok, also made sure my HP printer is the default printer, I don’t think I have ink levels showing in cartridges on screen when printing.

I really appreciate your help and advice, but please be gentle with me as I am a bit of an old fogey.

Try this site, the right hand side at bottom is customer repair may help.

If no good and you still have the instalation disc, uninstall it off the computer and install it again.
If you dont have the disc check this site for the drivers, manuals and there is a third cannot remember what.
But normaly 3 things you need to install too late at night brain dead sorry.
