Siamese potatoes

Dug up my maincrops today- lots of loevly big ones, but also a lot with 2 or 3 stuck together. Is there any particular cause for this, e.g. would they have separated if left a bit longer? I'm fairly sure they were Cara.

Is it not just deep splitting when the heavy rain came? A pic would help diagnosis...

I had the same problem ( i think ) with cara. The potatoes were seperated by hardly any space i managed to snap mine and they were joined by a white feeder root as it one had grown from the other.... still tasted nice :-)
