Sorry I've been off the list for some time, aging parents have had a large call on my time since January (the allotment is showing the results!!)

I was about to shout long and hard about the joys of Potato Days, but I did a search of postings on the subject over the last 9 months and spotted a number of complaints about the quality of the tubers, lack of stock, catalogues not reflecting what is available ......

Please, please if you have a complaint let the orgainiser/supplier know. Whenever I have a spare moment at the Hampshire Day,  I buttonhole people to ask them if they have any complaints or suggestions for improvements. It's in everyone's interest to make sure all is well; if you don't get a satisfactory answer then I would suggest voting with your feet.

If you didn't have a bad experience last year then I am starting to get the list of 2007 events together, it's moved to http://thewhitchurchweb.org/potatoday/potatodays.htm (the best, of course being the Hampshire Day (now with a built in Sweep Swap) at http://thewhitchurchweb.org/potatoday/).

Unfortunately, organisers seem very shy of publicity, so if you know of any (even a small one at your local garden centre) or places with a large stock please post them here or email them via the website.

Wondered where you were, Phil!!

Welcome back Phil,

We went to Whitchurch last year, and will be back again this year, it was fantastic.

Note that Leoni have been dropped from the list this year, thought these were a fantactic taste and good early this year.  Any chance of having them back?

Regards,

AbingdonBoy.

The list isn't firm yet, I don't know the position on Leoni.

We found it at a Potato Conference in Holland and the growers claimed that it matured in 60 days from an April planting.

Mine weren't that quick and the yeild wasn't brilliant, the taste was ok.

I'm glad that you liked them. The idea of having so many and being able to buy just a few to try to see if they suit your growing conditions and whether you like them

Phil
