Always up for a challenge/laugh, I saved some seeds from a gooseberry (forgot to note whether it was Red Hickomanii (sp?) or Whinhams Industry, not Pax as didn't have fruit this year :( ) - when would be the best time to sow them?

Anytime now... not sure what you will get though or how long it will take you to come to fruition..

Would a spring sowing be better than autumn?

I've never heard of anyone growing them from seed. I suppose If you think about how they would propagate naturally, now is probably the time the fruits would fall, and get eaten and distributed by wildlife....so I'd plant them now. Also, all mine have been grown from self setters, gathered from around my Dad's bushes.

Depends how many seeds you have MV, I'd be tempted to try both? What have you got to lose? ;D
