My uncle in Guernsey has lots of these growing in his garden and they seed everywhere....any ideas what it is? Have gathered some seeds to try and grow them next year.

A Tomarillo perhaps?

Although I've not seen a yellow one before? Is that their final colour or do they eventually go red?

Thanks for the reply Belinda.....I'm not sure of their final colour. Just had a look under google images
and it looks like the tomarillo apart from the leaves....they are totally different. Back to the drawing board for me :)

many thanks for your replies...have checked links
but don't think that is what they are. Oh well another of life's mysteries:)

Beware if it is like the Tamarillo, they are frost tender which is why
they probally grow well in the Channel Islands.

I thought these looked like aubergines so did a search and came up with this, the Thai Yellow Eggplant:

Looks very much like the fruit Pauline but have
googled to try and find foliage but with no luck:(

I think Merry Tiller was close - I am quite certain it is the same as what I have. Solanum Aviculare - here in Sweden they are grown in pots as summer plants as they are not very hardy. My wife is away this weekend and has our camera but when she comes back I will try and remember to post a pic.

Thanks Pauline and Simhop:)
