Hi,  :)and congratulations on a very interesting discussion site.

I'm having problems getting angelica to germinate. I 've tried outdoors and indoors, making sure not to cover them too deep, in fact the indoor ones only have a light dusting of sand, but still no sign of germination.

Do you have any suggestions ?

Thanks

To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven: a time to be born and time to die: a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted.     Ecclesiastes, 3:1-2

Don't try to hard I would say!  It is a weed in my garden, a welcome one, but still a weed!  I started by pure luck after several attempts, buying fresh seed and sowing exactly as the packet said in the greenhouse, planted the plants out in a sunny corner, and since then, I have had angelica.  It flowers late summer and stands over 8 foot tall, then in the wind, all of the seeds fall to the ground and germinate very quickly.  The trick might be therefore to sow in the autumn and don't cover the seed.

As far as I know/remember... it grows best from fresh seed.

=> the best idea would be to get
       - fresh seed from a friend
       - buy a plant and let it self-seed
       - get a good quality packet seed and sow straightaway as per      instructions
