I've just ordered some spring greens & salad plants from Marshall's, & since I've only grown onions over winter before, am wondering if there is any difference in the way I should prepare the soil for the winter veg compared to spring? e.g. I've got some horse manure which I could dig in, or would it be better to save that for spring?

Grant

Put your manure in so it breaks down over the winter, but if you can keep a clear patch for the winter greens just add some basic fertilizer to the ground before planting.  The manure may be to strong for new green salad stuff.

Thanks, Grant- didn't think I was going to get an answer on that one!
