A friend of mind asked me how to grow Celariac and I was not really able to answer the question, simply because I have never grown it before.

All I know about it is; that it is grown in a similar manner to Celery.

What I am hoping for is advice on the do's and don'ts from you learned people.

Over to you....................

OK I`ll have a go.

Celeriac is not difficult to grow but do not expect them to grow as large as one sees in the supermarket.

You can sow thinly in seed trays from about now depending on where you live. I prick out once-again into trays and let the plants grow on to planting out size.

They like a rich soil and plenty of water-some say that removing a few leaves as the plants grow helps the swelling of the `bulb` for want of a better word-I have found no difference.

Expect a number of them to be quite small with a massive root system-fidly to prepare but the flavour will far surpass those large and sometimes hollow brutes offered for sale.

Glad you asked that question Gardener.  I am growing them for the first time this year and they have all just germinated in their tray and I wondered what to do next.  Thanks Stephan
