First time I've grown these and despite early pollination problems, I've got these two to show for my efforts. Are they ready to pick?

hey Pete, I've got some of these too and we ate our first one last week, cut into chunks and roasted in the oven.  There wasn't much flesh, but what little there was tasted great.  It had tonnes of seeds in it and I think it would have happily sat for longer on the vine, but not sure how much more flesh it would produce.

I'd wait 'till the leaves start dying back if I was you

Ooh, nice turks Pete. I'd leave them until the leaves die back.
This year it's squash.

Thanks for the advice - I'll leave them

Just one more question, you called them 'turks' is that their full name? I looked it up but couldn't find anything about them.
