I read somewhere that you could dig in runner beans rather than compost them.

does the same theory work for sweetpeas ?

i'm running out of bin room fast and it would be much easier to slice them, remove the trellis and collapse them.  the runners are lost in the forest of sweetpeas somewhere !

I will be using all my beans as mulch for next year, allocating one quarter of my plot to the mulch method, as currently promulgated by supersprout. I always dig the roots in anyway, as I believe they add nitrogen to the soil?

Can't comment on sweetpeas as  have never grown them.
The impossible is just a journey away ...

I guess our system has been restored to a few days back as there were definitely another couple of posts on this thread before we were so rudely interloped!

I'm now wondering how much the SPs will rot down to over the winter as I've a 6' x 6' x 2' wall of them to squeeze in lol.
