.....and it pi**ed down lol!!...plus when i got there i didn't know where to start tbh, so much needs doing its hard to know what to tackle first,so i cleared a bit of long grass from the blackberries that are there and took out alot of the dead wood.

dug a v small patch ready for something! and lastly just looked at the so called shed made of doors wondering what to do with it. Think im gonna use some of the doors to make a compost heap then try and get rid of the rest somehow  ???

will try again tomorrow when weather is hopefully better

Yes i still remember my first day on plot - not knowing where to start, my neighbour gave me 21 sweetcorm plants which aare now jsut about ready to harvest.... I did it all slowly, mostly raking as i realised digging wasnt really essential!

Good luck - remember bit by bit!

If the fruit is good as many as you want... clear some otherbit first, just watch it doesn't tip down into any worked areas!!!
Have a great time, my first allotment was covered in couch and Buttercups.. took some shifting but worth it in the end.
Before... well after the first digs..

After...about five years after!!!

and now the next plot.... it can get addictive!
;D

Curryandchips

Good luck, another addict I see!

Regarding the blackberries, I think the best way to handle those is to train them onto a frame or have them as hedging, otherwise they tend to take over a plot. Once you have cleared some of the brambles, you will be able to see how you want it organised.

Don't forget to pick any blackberries before you chop the brambles out !!!
The impossible is just a journey away ...

Love yor hedges saddad - I am assuming they are herbs, but what?

It is addicitve bunjy and before you know it, you have things growing, and you are eating your home grown goodies....nothing like it!  Good luck and enjoy!

right been up plot today and the weather was great warm and sunny intervals.....all of us went today i bet the other plot holders wondered what was going on!!!!

right got mark my partner started straight away taking down the shed made of doors!...we were gonna use some of these to make compost heap but they were rotten so no good so just piled them up behind the mass of blackberry bushed

next mark got strarted on the compost heap....luckily we found an old shed door for the back and we'd taken up some wooden slats so hey ho im now the pround owner of a compost heap  ;D

sectretary of the allotments came over to say hello he's a lovely man and said we were doing well bless him.told us some good news in that we can have a bon fire after september...... so i can burn the doors and all the blackberry branches!

i cleared more of the long grass and blackberry branches omg dont the thorts bl**din hurt!! :o

got my two lads digging while my daughter played with the little ones they loved the free open space ran round like mad!

Well done bunjy, EJ the little hedges are Germander (Teucretium Officinalis?) Makes great hedges, only gets to knee high and is covered in pink flower stems attractive to bees, can be completely stooled and will re grow, cuttings take easily..
