I have loads of 2 x 2 wood which i thought i could use as fencing posts to support the netting/windbreak/chicken wire i want to construct up the lotty.

Do you think 2 x 2 will be ok?

Should i concrete the posts in?

The width of netting im using is only 1m high.

Yes OO, 2x2 should be physically strong enough for what you describe, but they'll need to be driven about 2ft into the ground. If you concrete, you'll need lots of it to have any effect. The biggest problem is, the part that's in the ground will go rotten after about three years, and not much longer if you treat them with preservative. But if you have loads, it won't be a problem to replace them when the time comes. ;D

Your lease may well not let you sink the posts into the ground with concrete -- all structures are supposed to be easily reversible (for the next generation of plotters).

But you'll still be ok without concrete, won't you?

Ahh its ok - decided against concrete! That was OH's idea ... basically he has NO idea bless him... I'll just have to order him about and tell him what to do :P
