I have grown a pepper named Gypsy for a number of years. It is very productive and the peppers are sweet enough to eat like apples.
However, are there a number of of varieties with the same name? The one I grow has pale green fruits early in the season which eventually turn red. I have never had a dark green stage or a brown stage.

I don't think i'll get any peppers as my plants are only a hand high and don't seem to grow.

Rosy - my sympathy - I'll send you some!!

But you don't have to eat them at any particular stage, you know, and a lot to be said, I think, for eating them before they fully ripen if taste is preferred to heat.  Me, I'd be happy to eat yours as seen, Tim :)

Oops, thought you meant chilli peppers :-[

Indeed, Lishka - we're eating our Gypsy as shown. And that hastens production. But I mostly like red - so one has to go through the grotty stage to get them.
