My cabbage seedlings are just through and some of the seed leaves look deformed.  They are odd shapes and some have small yellow or even brown patches on them. Can anyone suggest what might be up with them? Should i bin them or keep them and hope they grow out of whatever it is?

Yellowing is certainly something I have seen often, as are the odd shapes. The odd shapes are genetic, once the true leaves emerge they will be fine,in my experience. The yellowing I have seen I have always put down to the cells expanding faster than the plant can manufacture chlorophyll at this early stage. They should green up soon. The browning I don't recall seeing- grab the worry beads?
