Sunflower

One of my sunflowers has just developed side shoots near the top that look like small buds.  Is this normal?  Should I pinch them out or leave them?  Unfortunately I don't know what variety it is as I planted a mixed selection

I always leave them as I like lots of flower heads  :)

Some varieties produce just one head, others multiple.  Don't pinch out - they're only doing what nature intended.
