Calcified Seaweed

Hi Everyone,
                     a while ago, on a visit to the excellent Gordon Riggs garden centre, I bought a few small bags of calcified seaweed.They were quite cheap at the time, and, as I could vaguely recall reading about seaweed being a good organic fertilizer, I thought I'd give it a try.
  On my next visit to Gordon Riggs's I noticed that the calcified seaweed was now much more expensive.
  I was just wondering If anybody out there can give me any advice on what are the best  uses for calcified seaweed as I dont want to waste It.

Bought some years ago, thinking 'seaweed', which I love.

But quite different in use, really.

calcified seaweed is also a great substitute for lime.  use it on your brassicas and onions.

I walk out of my allotment gate straight onto Haslar lake, (part of The Solent), indeed once or twice we have to move the car in time for high tide and i have been seen to wade from the gate laden with veg & my flask when there are exceptional tides.  With this resource literally at my finger tips, can i use the seaweed straight onto the plot/compost bin?

Thank you for that, really informative reading, I know what i will be getting the grandchildren to do this weekend ~ particularly if it is hot again, no excuses.......might even join them, i have often been tempted to just walk in for a swim after doing so much hard work on the plot!
