I have sown 2 lots of rocket and nothing has appeared.  One of the chaps up at the allotment said that someone else had had a similiar problem and that something was eating the seeds.  He suggested I plant in pots and sure enough when I went up last night, small leaves were appearing.  Anyone else had similiar problems?

 ???

I have been growing some salady leafy things (lost the packet, so no idea what it was called...doh!) which includes rocket. They have grown really well and germinate between 4-6 days, it's been delicious! Maybe the problems were weather related?

Slugs!  I bet they munch on the seedlings as soon as they are through.  I have given up with rocket as it bolts immediately on my plot.  Mind you, the flowers are tasty.

I second that- the flowers are delicious and look awesome too!

How do you use rocket flowers in cooking?

I have found that if I plant rocket in spring or summer it either bolts or gets decimated by assorted bugs, but that I get a splendid crop which overwiners successfully if I plant early in autumn.

Mrs Ava

You don't cook the flowers, you eat them as they are.  Lovely in a salad or a different garnish on a fruit salad.  I tend to eat them as I am weeding on the plot.  Tasty snack!

The same thing has happened to me.  Big gaps in my bed where I planted my rocket seeds..  DArn slugsnsnails!  GOing to try the pot idea also.
