blackfly /aphids?

As of yesterday morning, all my veggie plants are covered in little black flies... - they look like greenfly but are black (lol!) Is there anything I can do to get rid of them? Are they likely to do much damage?

You can squish some with finger and thumb but the cavalry, (Ladybirds/lacewings etc) will not be far away!
