Does anyone know why this happens? I've got three healthy looking courgettes, about 2 1/2 " long and shiny, but the flowers which haven't yet opened are wilting, turning brown and dying. What am I doing wrong, and will the courgettes be edible?

  Thanks!

how big/small are the plants? they may not be ready yet to become a mom due to tender age?

otherwise, the usual - i take it they are happy with the amount of water they receive? i.e. the soil is moist at root level?
Gardening in SE17 since 2005 ;)

I have the same problem although they have fruited also.  The flowers were looking great, then I went away for a long weekend and it's sods law that the weather turns hot!  So when I returned, the flowers have done as you said yours have, common clay, and a couple of leaves are a bit brown.  I have given them a good watering - will they recover and will the fruits suffer?
Thank you to all who donated to the Moonlight Half Marathon Walk in aid of St Catherine's Hospice - my mum and I raised just over £300!!!    ............     Thanks!  :-)

The plant is big with many leaves and a great amount of new leaf growth too... I put in quite a bit of compost when planting out and watered well, but then left them to get on with it after reading no need to water unless exceptionally hot... but not just a couple of days nice weather, surely?! ??? I'll give them a good water tonight, see if that helps. :)

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem then! Hope yours recover too, s_c, the fruits look alright...  :-\
This morning I noticed one new flower was fully open, just hope that the rest follow suit.  ;D
