Tomatos - Little white flies

I moved my tomato plants that I have reared from seed into larger (ex-florist) pots.
Went back next evening and lots of small white flies take off when the plants are disturbed. :(
There was no sign of these flies when I potted them on, and they have been reared in the same place (greenhouse).
What are they ??? - Should I worry ??? - Should I do something ??? - What ???

Touchwood have been spared them in my greenhouse/polytunnels but always get them on the brassicas!

What we have been doing for several years, PTP, is to plant french marigolds in the containers with the tomatoes.  This is one of the 'companion planting' systems that have really seem to have worked for us against whitefly.

Is it the marigold plant itself (cos they do wiff a bit) or the blooms that provide the protection.

I've got quite a few marigolds dotted around the place but none ready to flower yet.

Mind you I've not got any flying beasties yet either (fingers crossed something I'm doing seems to be right atm).
