What is the best variety to grow for giant marrows? And is it too late to sow them?

Hey cc, a family friend used to grow the monsters and they were (from memory) trailing rather than bush. Here's Medwyns selection:

Don't know about planting times, they may need the 100 days from transplanting (most of my squash do) to get ripe.

Edit; oops!!! misread the title, don't know what made think of pumpkins


I generally grow a variety called 'hundredweight (see below)

All of mine were over the half hundredweight last year, I think if I had cut my fruiting down to one per plant, fed and watered more I would have quite possibly achieved the proverbial 'hundredweight'

As it was I left them to their own resources on top of the compost heap.
