You may remember I grew some last year but everyone was to nervous to tuck in as they were given to me, and they looked so much like deadly nightshade!  In the end, the birds had some, but mostly they fell to the ground, and the lot ended up on the compost heap.  Weeeeeeeellllllllll, huckleberry seedlings everywhere this spring!  GGRR.  All those berries that fell have grown away happily.  At least my compost heap is lovely and full, but if I wanted to get them to germinate, fat chance!  Be warned.  Another that will do this is salsify.

I grow huckleberries, interesting fruit full of seeds, milder than a blackcurrent but has a unusal favour crumble and custard helps the seeds go down. ha ha.
They have to be black/purple then there ripe dont eat them when green.
Yep a member of deadly nightshade but you can eat them.
I grow them on lottie in full sun, one old gardener down there thinks I am a witch with nightshade to cast spells tried to get him to eat one no way.
But he is light fingered if you know what I mean so he keeps away from my lottie. ha ha and I am not going to change his mind.
