I know its summer as i have just heard the 1st swift cries this year.

It's great is'nt it, I'm a bit worried though only 3 flying above my garden (high in the sky ::)when we usually have at least 30  /shades x

They seem to be late this year, which is perhaps just as well, though  when you see only a few, you do worry that something could have happened to them during their journey here.  It is amazing they make it every year, I always think. When we were walking to our allotment during the week we saw four swifts, ducking and diving, which was so lovely. My best time is during the mid summer months sitting in the garden in the evening and watching them swoop down for insects - I just love their chattering. busy_lizzie

As most modern houses do not have access into the eaves for swifts to nest has anyone had any success with a swift nest box?
Many years ago an old house in the village was home to dozens of swifts. Then it was modernised and they disappeared. Would nest boxes encourage swifts back into an area?

First day in the home office for over a week or so, but just been treated to a screaming flypast of about 6 swifts. 

I'd like to know about the possibility of swift nesting help as I've unfortunately removed a nesting place when I had my roof repaired.  Don't miss the sparra's or the worry about wasps & starlings moving over from next door, but the swifts are a real miss.  I could sit here and try not to duck when they came in full tilt, did a handbrake turn and fed the weans all in one non stop manoeuvre.  Amazing
