Hi all

I've just found a few packets of tomato seeds I haven't sown yet - in the bottom of my seed box! :D
Is it too late to sow them? They are all outdoor tomatoes.

Thanks :)

Gardeners Question Time on Sunday said it's fine to do them now, they WILL catch up and some people who have been very keen may lose some!!

I sowed some last week just in case of disaster, so I would go right ahead!

I sowed a pot of Gardener's Delight last week, and a pot of San Marzano this morning ...

I have dozens of Alicante, Tigerella and Golden Sunrise all at the two leaf stage ...
The impossible is just a journey away ...

Thanks everyone.

That's a relief! I'm going to sow them today then. ;D

I actually did lose all Brandywine seedlings I sowed in February. They just didn't want to grow and shrivelled... Going to sow them again today!

I wonder when is the best time to sow outdoor tomatoes to get the optimum yield... Does anybody know?

I have often had cherry tomatoes self seed in my garden. The seedlings only germinate in June or July, and still produce some tomatoes before the frosts.

Thanks for the link, Tim. :)

David, that sounds reassuring! I might experiment with various sowing times and see what happens. ;D
