my chilli peppers are about two inches now(i was a late starter lol!), some are sitting in 3 inch pots the rest in seed trays, i am wondering what size pots do they need to grow fully in?do people use grow bags?. of so how many to the bag, and where do people tend to grow them?

Have grown chillies successfully in the south east of England 2 ways - planted out direct into the soil about 45 cm apart, and also planted into 20cm pots. The advantage with the pots was that I put them out late (end June) and was able to bring them indoors to finish ripening when the frosts started.  When I planted them into the soil they ripened nicely but I did put them out earlier, after the frosts at the end of May.

I grew Anaheim chilies last year in a 30cm pot. I put four plants in the pot and they did fine, I actually harvested several fruits per plant. They were positioned in a sunny corner of my garden. They kept flowering over a long time and were killed by the first frost eventually.
I imagine I should have given them more space. Also it depends on what varieties you grow too. Two inch tall plants are not bad at all, I started my chilies in early March and they are shorter than that. :D

Well if i could get several in a pot then i would be happy, they are cayane peppers

A thought - since most chillies give you enough fruit for an average person's year, one per pot might be better? Anaheim can be 4'x2'.

hmm good thinking, i just decided to put a whole load in because ive never done them before, must have 30+ plants, !

I grow 1 plant per 10" pot but that's probably why we're still getting through the chillies from 2 years ago. ;D  This year I'm aiming only to grow 2 plants although I seem to have about 12 seedlings at the moment...

After waiting about 6 weeks for my chilli seeds to germinate, they got to about 1.5" and their leaves fell off....!  :o :o

I still have 1 'healthy' seedling but it hasn't developed any true leaves as yet.

Mine stay in 9cm pots until they are about a foot tall and started branching, I then move them to 20cm pots for a while, before potting them two plants to a 30l polypot.

Just to wind the better half up i said I was planting the seeds from a shop bought red chilli we were using in a recipe. 'They will never grow' she said. Two weeks later i've got about 30 chilli seedlings packed into a 4x6 inch container---feel some pricking out coming on!!
