Farmer's Market - locally free-range. Supposed to be tastier.

Well? It was! Delicious. And so said the 12 family, many of whom had 'seconds'. I did it for about 5 hours in the bottom oven & then 'blasted' it.

Would you believe that from what's left for 'afters'??

Today, my kind lottie neighbour asked if I'd like a cockeral.
He explained that it was a young bird but was attacking the hens.

:-\...so, I asked what I needed to do...

...and he told me :-X
Pluck it, going against the grain, chop off it's head,
cut the leg joints and bend backwards to remove, then
at the genteel end of things...slit and scoop out everything :-X :-X

So I did ;D

Two slightly traumatised children (hope they don't have nightmares)
A traumatised husband, who stated he will not eat it (we'll see ;D ;D)

...15 mins left in the oven.

Children were not allowed to see any chopping off or removal of body parts
but did see a leg sticking out the bag .

Confess to feeling a bit sad when my brace of pheasants gets delivered at Christmas......that beautiful glossy plumage of the male really gets me..but then by the time I've chopped, drawn and skinned them they start to look a bit more like something I'm used to seeing, so I'm cheered up immensely. The bits get thrown into the wood nearby for the foxes, so that's nature's symmetry, I guess.

9 yr old daughter and 7 yr old son had some of the breast in a sandwich,
which both declared was delicious.

Husband is still not convinced - and thought I had tried to sneak some in
last nights thai green curry ;D ;D ( i hadn't)
