remember you asking about how i kept the cold frame lids from blowing about ?

plastic S hook through one of the holes in the ventilation props, then hang a small milk carton (with handle) filled with water (lid on) on the other end of the hook.  now to find another hook amongst all the boxes of usefull stuff for the second lid.

if we all put our heads together, i bet this lot on here could come up with a solution to most of the world's problems.  mad inventors one and all.

'Mad Inventors?...Why does 'MikeB' spring to mind? :P

Your lids...do they slide into place along the back rather than being hinged? I find that the wind lifts them........b. bad design. >:(

I'll have a go with the S hooks tho.........got some going spare in the kitchen 8) 8) 8)

aye, a piece of flat black plastic slides into both the back and the lid.  i think if the frames were heavier aluminium the weight itself would keep them down, but as they are so light and the lids don't naturally fit square onto the frame, the wind gets into the wee gap and woosh !

nice idea if they were more substantial but i think as we said at the time ........ what do you expect for twenty notes.

still can't find a matching hook  :-\ but it's only really the side i've weighted that lifts anyway.  had a look in there today and the lilies are turning into triffids !!!
