I am just about to prune back a buddlia & row of dogwoods. I should like to try to propogate from the cuttings, but the books say that I should do it in the Autumn. What are the chances of getting them to take now?

Personally, I'd give it a go with the softer wood cuttings & protect from te worst of the weather.  In my experience, the plants haven't rad the text books and if the donor plant was healthy, chances are survival instincts will kick in and some will root.
is it in the sale?

Previously, I've just stuck hardwood cuttings of both of these into a trench, heeled them in, and they've taken, at this time of year. Saw roots about May. The buddleja is especially quick to root. With the dogwood, take a piece about a foot long, and put about 3/4 of it into the ground.
Best of luck.

Should I use rooting hormone?
