Have just stripped off my last years spinach - perpetual really!

It is covered with 'burn' spots!  The little spots are paper-like and nearly see-through.

Which little beasty would have done this?

Any ideas?

It may be the spinach leafminers. Had a bigger problem with mine something had the lot ???

I have to admit it looks horrid, so have composted most of the blighted leaves.

I took a knife to the whole row  :o so hope it will grow up again free from bugs - will have to dose it with something - but don't know what  ???

Suggestions?

Perhaps they are really burn spots? Sounds very similar to the wind burn more commonly associated with tender plants growing during early summer. Over here many trees and shrubs will get burn during the winter as the ground is frozen/cold, slowing down moisture uptake by the roots, so that wind can accelerate transpiration beyond what the plant can replace. I believe you have had a fairly cold January?
