I've finally actually read the label  ::) on some onion sets that the heritage seed library sent me and they're potato onions, which multiply underground. Has anyone tried these?
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Never heard of them either...but sound great! :)

Apparently now is the time to plant them, for harvesting as small spanish-type onions in midsummer. If they work (never certain where I'm concerned  ::)) perhaps I can offer them around for others to try?

Are these what we call Welsh onions?  Seem very similar tho "Welsh" onions I think only grow to about 1.5" dia - very useful anyway.
Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.

No, I originally thought they were Welsh onions, but they're these:

It's not the same as egyptian onions, either - they seem to be grown in the states for greens.

Oh well, can only give it a try  :D
